Ganderbal, Jun 28 (KNO): In view of the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra slated to commence on July 3, Ganderbal Police, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khalil Ahmed Poswal, on Saturday said to have reinforced a comprehensive, multi-layered security framework to ensure a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage. Addressing the media, SSP Poswal affirmed that meticulous planning and coordinated efforts are underway to safeguard the lakhs of pilgrims expected to undertake the Yatra. “A multi-tier security setup has been established in close coordination with the Army, CRPF, ITBP, BSF and other security agencies. Strategic deployments have been made, particularly along the Baltal axis, which serves as a key entry route,” he said, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He added that advanced surveillance systems, including mobile patrolling units and real-time monitoring, have been integrated to strengthen the security grid. “Our priority remains the safety and convenience of every pilgrim. We urge devotees to follow instructions and cooperate with security personnel,” SSP Poswal stated. In addition to visible ground deployments, security forces have intensified their presence in higher and sensitive areas. The JKP, in collaboration with the BSF, CRPF, SOG and Army, have launched extensive domination and area sanitization operations in Ganderbal district. These operations include the census of dhoks (seasonal highland shelters), identification of transhumant tribal populations, and targeted search operations in remote and vulnerable zones. Areas such as Mohand Marg, Gangbal, Trankhul, Walkwan, Bishansar, Khilanmarg, Akhal and Badimarg are under special focus, with continued surveillance and combing operations being carried out to pre-empt any security threats. The district administration and security agencies reiterated their commitment to providing a safe, secure and spiritually enriching experience to all pilgrims—(KNO)
